Clinical Psychology – Our psychology specialists are
experienced with the unique problems that neurology disease create. They
can help patients maintain healthy emotional balance during stressful
times.
Interventional Radiologists - Interventional
radiologists are board certified physicians who specialize in minimally
invasive, targeted treatments using imaging for guidance. Their
procedures have less risk, less pain and less recovery time compared to
open surgery.
Neuropsychology – A neuropsychological evaluation
may be recommended which consists of a set of standard tests that
evaluate attention span, memory, speech, visual perception, reasoning
and mood, all of which can be affected by a brain tumor
Neuro-Ophthalmology – Often disorders of the nervous
system can create changes in vision and cause eye movement abnormalities
Neuroradiology – Patients often require specialized
radiographic studies during their evaluation. In addition, some diseases
can be treated using new radiology techniques developed in the last
decade, termed vascular and interventional radiology
Radiation Oncology – Radiation therapy may be the
first or second line of defense against brain or spinal tumors for many
patients. New technologies target tumors and minimize damage to normal
tissue.
Pain
Management – The goal of pain management is to help the patient
return to the highest level of function and independence possible, while
improving the overall quality of life - physically, emotionally and
socially. Pain management techniques assist in reducing the suffering
experienced by a person with chronic pain.
Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation – Physical
medicine and rehabilitation specialists, known as physiatrists, are part
of the core physician group of the Neuroscience Institute. These
specialists treat musculoskeletal injuries. They plan and implement
specific injury rehabilitation and performance enhancement programs.
